Silly Sentences
Students will use Ozobot to randomly choose nouns and verbs as a foundation for a simple silly sentence. Students will then choose additional words to complete a second silly sentence.
Random Prefix
Students will let Ozobot randomly choose a prefix and a root word and decide if they go together. If not, students will use the root to make a new word that uses an appropriate prefix and write the meaning of the new word.
Random Suffix
Students will program Ozobot to randomly choose a suffix and a root word and determine if it is a real word. If not, students will use the root to make a new word that uses an appropriate suffix and write the meaning of the new word.
Picking Out Irregular Plural Nouns
In this lesson, students will identify the correct way to spell and use irregular plural nouns and use Color Codes to program their Ozobot to move to the correct irregular plural nouns by either turning left or right and use the noun in a sentence.
Vowel Addition
Students will identify a long or short vowel sound in short words, and calculate a sum. In that sum, one of the numbers indicates where their Ozobot will start on a map. The line the bot follows will confirm their choice of long or short for the vow
Prefix Puzzle
Students will use Color Codes to program their bot to move to definitions of words with prefixes. Students will use the definitions to identify the correct form of the words including the prefix and the root word.
Parts of Speech Match-Up
Students will code Ozobot to match parts of speech with the definition and function. Students will then create a chart with words from each part of speech, and create sentences using the words to write a fable.
Ozobot’s Day of Similes
Students complete commonly used similes to tell about Ozobot’s day and use Color Codes to program their bot to demonstrate the similes.
Trait Match-Up
Students explore how certain traits are inherited in animals by programming their Ozobot to randomly choose a trait from a pair of parents. Then students put the chosen inherited traits from the parents together to draw an example of the offspring.
What’s the Object?
Students use lines and Color Codes to program their bot to randomly choose an object. Students create a 2D model of the object by putting paper shapes together.
