    2. Preparation

This helps the teacher prepare for the lesson before the class session

    A. Student Materials

    B. Background Knowledge (Optional)

    C. Lesson Tips (Optional)

Add tips for the educator that don't fit into Direct Instruction or Student Practice. You can always return to this page to add more.

    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Instruction

    1. Introduction: Ask students to share what they have learned about digital citizenship. Prompt students to reflect on past digital citizenship lessons.
    2. Activity Sheet: In partners, students will trace the path along the digital citizenship activity sheet and read each statement.
    3. Determine the Path: Students will determine which direction they want their Ozobot to travel from start to finish. Students must think of the different codes they will need to use to travel past each digital citizenship statement. Have students determine what their Ozobot will do at intersections. Do they want their Ozobot to turn left or right at an intersection?
    4. Color Codes: Students will use markers to code and color in the blank areas of the path to help their Ozobot travel from start to finish.
    5. Run Program: Students will run their program to being at the start and end at the finish. If the students made a mistake on their code they can use a white shipping or address label and redo the code.

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Student Instructions

    Instruction

Looking at the activity sheet, read the digital citizenship statements while tracing a path for Ozobot with your finger.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

Determine the speed and direction you would like your Ozobot to travel. Make sure that Ozobot passes by each statement on the path.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

Use the speed and direction codes to color and complete the digital citizenship path. Use markers to color in the blank squares. If you make a mistake use a white shipping label to cover the code.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

When the path is colored in and complete, start Ozobot at the "start" and have Ozobot travel along the path to the "finish". Did Ozobot pass every digital citizenship statment? Did Ozobot travel along the path that you had wanted?

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Lesson Extension (Optional)

Add student instructions for a lesson extension.

    Instruction

Race your friends! Can you make your Ozobot travel along the path faster than your partner? Time the Ozobot from start to finish.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    5. Supplements

    A. Lesson Closure (Optional)
Give tips for how to wrap up the lesson and assess student learning. (Want to add an attachment? Use Part C, below.)

Conclude the activity with a short reflection: Ask students to share one thing they learned about digital citizenship during the activity. Ask students if there were any challenges with coding the Ozbot. Ask students how they adjusted or changed anything about coding their path from when they first started to when they ended. Ask students what they did to make Ozobot travel through the path the fastest.

    B. Academic Standards (At least one standard required)
Choose a category from the dropdown on the left. In the blank on the right, begin typing the number of the standard.
