Add tips for the educator that don't fit into Direct Instruction or Student Practice. You can always return to this page to add more.

Be sure students are familiar with how to code each step. I normally provide a cheat sheet for them.

    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Instruction

(Quick review of sequencing events or modeling how to put events in order may be needed based on your students)

Read text aloud. (I prefer to use a reading passage that I give to the students. Readworks.org or superteacherworksheet.com are great resources)

I would recommend using a graphic organizer or a flow map to help students put events in order.

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Student Instructions

    Instruction

Students should be placed in groups with a copy of the text, an uncoded map, a set of coding markers, and an ozobot.

    1. Students will look at the map, and make decisions about which way the ozobot should go in order to keep the details in order.
    2. At each turn the students will have a choice. They should code the direction the ozobot should go based on the events in the story.
