    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

    These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Pre-teach:

    1. Pre taught Lesson 1: Line Following Codes for students to have a basic understanding of how Ozobots move on lines. (Lines will be provided)
    2. Pre taught Lesson 2: Introduction to Color Codes for students to have a basic understanding of how the codes work. (Codes will be provided)

    Instruction

    1. Demonstrate the activity by:
    a. rolling the dice and sharing the number rolled (ie 4) b. finding which path has the corresponding number c. place Ozobot on the starting line and put the correct path pattern on the track d. watch to see if the Ozobot goes to the correct number (ie numeral 4) e. adjust codes if the Ozobot did not go to the desired number

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

    These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Instruction

    Students will:

    1. Roll the dice and count the number rolled (ie 2)
    2. Find the number on their Ozobot map
    3. Choose which starting location will take their Ozobot to the correct location
    4. Choose the correct code to move the Ozobot to the correct location
    5. Place Ozobot on start location
    6. Adjust codes if the Ozobot did not go to the desired number
    7. Optional: record number on recording sheet
