    Instruction

Reflect/Share: What worked well for your design? What changes would you make? Share your habitat with a partner or small group.

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Student Instructions

    Instruction

Set the Stage/Challenge: You have learned so much about zoos and what they do to prepare for and protect animals during severe storms. You have also become an expert on an animal of your choice. Your final challenge is to design a habitat to protect your animal during severe weather. What will your animal need to survive - food, water, shelter? How will you design your shelter to protect your animal during severe weather? You will use your Ozobot to test out your habitat design!

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

Planning: You will use plain white paper to draft a plan for the animal habitat. Within your habitat you must include a path with various types of movement for your Ozobot. Use the Color Code Reference Sheet to include at least 1 of each: speed code, direction code and cool move. As you work on your plan, check for survival needs: food, water, shelter. You will also need to make sure your habitat can withstand various movements and speeds from the Ozobot.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

Test/Improve: Use your Ozobot to test out the habitat for your animal. Can your Ozobot move through the habitat safely? Can the Ozobot get what they need to survive: food, water, shelter? Can the habitat withstand changes in speed and direction by the Ozobot? Make improvements as needed.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

Design your habitat on a larger size sheet of white construction paper or poster paper. 3D materials may be incorporated to simulate the actual environment. Repeat the test and improve process.
