    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

    These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    PREPARE! - Before completing this lesson, it may be helpful to have completed an introductory lesson on how the Ozobots work in regards to following the marker and reading codes. To optimize time, you may want to complete this lesson in a half period beforehand if at all possible.

    INSTRUCT! - Students will be creating a map on a blank sheet of paper with Ozobot markers. Students are required to use certain directions to turn, codes to perform, and locations at which to arrive, all of which will be demonstrated by the Ozobot. The requirements for each student's map are as follows: 1.) Turn Left 2.) Turn Right 3.) Turn Around 4.) Go Forward 5.) Go Backward 6.) Walk Backward 7.) Speed Up 8.) Slow Down 9.) Spin 10.) Stop at 3 Locations (optional)

    CHALLENGE! - Have your students present their maps by setting the Ozobot loose on their paper! As the Ozobot travels, students need to explain what the Ozobot is doing in Spanish (or any language). Optional extension: create a Flipgrid Topic for students to record their Ozobots and their translated description of the Ozobot's actions.
