    2. Preparation

This helps the teacher prepare for the lesson before the class session

    A. Student Materials

    B. Background Knowledge (Optional)

    C. Lesson Tips (Optional)

Add tips for the educator that don't fit into Direct Instruction or Student Practice. You can always return to this page to add more.

In this lesson, we take measurement to the next level. Using the handouts provided, Ozobot Evo, and Ozoblockly.com, students will measure a number of "paths" to see if they can make ozobot follow the path and stop at the end. This is different than color coding; instead students are give the lines and must use measurement tools to get ozobot to the end of each path.

    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Instruction

Students should have already had an introductory lesson to using ozobot and ozoblockly prior to engaging this activity.

    Instruction

    Print out PDF worksheets

    Instruction

    Charge Ozobots the day before.

    Instruction

Review rules and expectations when using Ozobots in class. This is a great way to remind students to care for Ozobots and not just use them carelessly.

    Instruction

    Review measurement in centimeters.

    Instruction

Explain task to students through modeling. Students will measure from the Start point on each line or shape and then must code ozobot from Start to End. Some are easier than others and will involve rotation as you continue on. Explain that students MUST have the teacher verify they have done the correct code and Ozobot goes along the path correctly. Teachers will initial in the box when students are finished and only then can they move on.

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Student Instructions

    Instruction

1.Students will measure From Start to End of line for task 1.

    1. Students then will program (using ozoblockly) to follow that line. In reality students will only be using the 'move' and 'rotate' blocks to complete these tasks.
    2. Students will load the program into ozobot and test it on the paper using it as a track.
    3. Once students believe they have it right, teacher will come check their code and verify that it runs correctly with Ozobot before initialing the task and allowing students to move on.

    Goal

    Lesson Extension (Optional)

Add student instructions for a lesson extension.

    Instruction

Students who finish early can see if they can then make their codes run in the opposite direction. They can also take time to explore some of the other things that Ozobot can do using Blockly.
