Make sure each ozobot is charged and every student has a color code sheet. I would also provide some scratch paper for them to practice upon.

3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

Have a sample color coded poster with at least two ozobot tracks on it to perform a sample dance off.

The sheet has to be big enough to add a few codes/colored lines per bot as per the instructions.

Demo the bots on the sample coded sheet to show the students what they are expected to accomplish.

Explain the color codes to the students and make sure they know to use the sheets to design their dance. I suggest three moves per dance. I suggest two colored lines as well so they can learn the capabilities of the the robot to change the colors of the lights on its surface.

Demo the drawing best practices on scratch paper as the students will be performing this on their own, we do want them to practice before they draw their codes on the large sheet. This is a good opportunity to show them that they must use black on either side of the codes for the ozobots to be able to read the codes.

Go over any classroom norms for working collaboratively as they will all be trying to draw on the big sheet at the same time.

4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

Decide which three dance moves your ozobot will perform- think about the order of the moves and decide which will be first, middle and last moves.

Think about what other colors you will use besides Black for your lines.
