Print the trick or treating sheet on 11x14 paper.

Reward students with the "candy" as they are successful at each monster.

    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Instruction

Teacher should model how to write a code using variables. Teacher will demonstrate using "if surface color is ... do... else." Teacher will then review how to trick or treat at each monster's house. Review that each monster has a "sidewalk" that they will need to add a colored pathway to in order for their ozobot to complete the task.

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Student Instructions

    Instruction

Students will choose which monster they want to start with. They will review the commands they need to complete in order to get the candy from the monster. Students should write their codes first and then create the colored pathway "sidewalk." If their code is successful and their ozobot reaches the monster after performing all commands, then they should be rewarded with "candy."

Students should repeat for each monster.

Students might want to create Halloween costumes for their Ozobots.
