2. Preparation
This helps the teacher prepare for the lesson before the class session
B. Background Knowledge (Optional)
C. Lesson Tips (Optional)
Add tips for the educator that don't fit into Direct Instruction or Student Practice. You can always return to this page to add more.
Students create a map of a town (digital or paper) & label the town. Students will then be given a modified coding sheet that is written in the target language. Students will be given destinations, and will have to code with stickers accordingly to get from point A to point B, while only listening to directional vocabulary in the target language. (Could be done as a written assignment as well.)
4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)
These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups
Student Instructions
Instruction
Decide on a theme for their town, and what buildings they would like to label and see present. Do a rough sketch of the town. (on computer or paper)
Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)
Goal
Instruction
Begin creating the town. Label the buildings, draw black lines for the ozobot to follow from place to place. Practice placing their ozobot on the line to make sure it can do follow the line.
Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)
Goal
Instruction
Create short skits where students will give directions from point A to point B in the target language. Ex: Hello, I want to got to the post office. Where is it? The post office, sure! If you go left, and then right, and then turn right again, you should arrive at the post office.
Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)
Goal
Instruction
Share their maps and short skits with other groups. Have other groups code the stories (again, no native langauge, only target language) so that the little ozobot gets from point A to point B along the chosen path with the given directions.
Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)
Goal
Instruction
Post assessment. What they learned, did they enjoy it, and how did they feel about translating from target language to coding language.
Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)
Goal
Lesson Extension (Optional)
Add student instructions for a lesson extension.
5. Supplements
A. Lesson Closure (Optional)
