This lesson combines engineering, math and computer science. Students will make a plan and then create their maze using different recyclable materials. After creating their maze, they will program an ozobot using ozoblockly to travel through their maze. The lesson file includes a maze planning sheet, a letter for parents and a lesson rubric for easy student assessment.
4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)
These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups
Student Instructions
Instruction
The students will work independently or with a partner to program their ozobot to travel through their maze. They will use a ruler or measuring tape to measure each distance that the ozobot will need to travel. They will also need to calculate the degree of each angle in their maze. They may also use rotate right or left found in the beginning or intermediate levels of ozoblockly. During this process, students will need to test out their program and make changes if their program is unsuccessful. Students are also able to add a solid black line to parts of their maze.
