Students are given a set of coins to identify (paper or projected), an Evo, a set of markers, and faint graph paper. When a student correctly identifies a coin, he may draw a line of the designated length (ie, 2 blocks). He strategically uses his colors. Once finished with all coins, the students complete any remaining length with black marker and then race them down their lines.
4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)
These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups
Student Instructions
Instruction
Students are given coins to identify. This could be on a screen or individual resources. For each coin that is correctly identified, the student can draw a line that is 2 graph paper boxes (or other length) long. He/she will want to strategically choose the color pattern. If a student incorrectly identifies a coin, no line is drawn. When all coins have been identified, the student finishes the line with black marker. At the signal, the Ozobots race down their lines. The first to end wins. This combines math/money with robotics and color coding strategy.
