Hook students into the lesson by showing them a video of synchronized swimmers, ice skaters, or dancers.
Explain that the students will be creating a synchronized dance with a buddy in the class.
Teach the students relevant geometry lessons regarding symmetry and reflections.
Teach students the basics of the movement and lights blocks in Ozoblockly.
Show students how to share Ozoblockly programs by Clicking "Programs" on the right side of the screen. If they scroll down from this menu, they will see a "Share" button. Students will then see a six digit alpha-numeric code on their screens. Their buddy can then click the "Programs" button on their screen. If this student clicks "Open Program" a menu will open, and they will see a button that says, "Enter Share Code." That student should then enter his/her buddy's 6 digit alpha-numeric code and click, "OK."
Pair students up. Each student will need his/her own Ozobot, but students will collaborate with partners to make a synchronized dance.
Give students time to think and program their dances. Encourage students to use the "Share Code" technology with their buddy's to work together and save time. Encourage students to think about the video that you showed at the beginning of class. Synchronized dancers do not always do the exact same moves; they often compliment one another and reflect one another's moves. Encourage the students to do that as well.
After about 25 minutes of working, allow students to share their work with their friends.
