    Students should be familiar with coding the Ozobot prior to doing this lesson. This lesson is independent practice. Students should work with a partner.

    Optional: Have students record their voice reading the story.

    Optional: Include Design Thinking (STEAM) and have students build their setting. This will add to the time allocated to this lesson.

    This lesson would be good practice for Multi-language learners to practice their speaking and listening skills.

    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

    These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Introduce the Storyboard Handout to students.

    Explain the expectations of the lesson.

    Review how to use Ozoblockly and/or color codes.

    Walk around the room as students write their stories and then code their stories.

    Students should share their stories with their classmates, perhaps in a Gallery Walk.

    Using the attached storyboard, write a story with your partner. It can be an original story or a retelling of a historical event.

    For example, if you are learning about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, you can retrace some of the story using the Ozobots as the main characters.

    Once you complete the essential questions in the storyboard, you can create a drawing or three dimensional scenery of your setting. Be as creative as possible with your scenery.

    Now that your scenery is created you are ready to code. Use Ozoblockly or color codes to tell your story.

    Test out your codes to make sure your story works, record your voice reading your story, have your Ozobots follow along to your story. Share the story and scenery with your classmates during a gallery walk by listening to your recording.
