    C. Lesson Tips (Optional)

Add tips for the educator that don't fit into Direct Instruction or Student Practice. You can always return to this page to add more.

Triangles come in all shapes and sizes. When students are learning how to identify triangles by their sides and angles using coding and robots is a great way for them to put their skills to the test. Using only painters tape, an Ozobot, and the OzoBlockly program, students will enjoy this hands on math lesson while learning about triangles. Students will use teamwork and communication throughout.

    3. Direct Instruction (Teacher-Facing Instructions)

These are the steps the educator will read. Include any front loading, modeling or explicit instruction before students work independently or in groups.

    Instruction

Print triangles foldable worksheet onto card stock and color if possible. Make sure Ozobots and form of electronic you are using are all charged and work.

    Instruction

You may want to have the OzoBlockly website page up on a projector screen and have the website already up on their ipads or tablets before handing them out.

    Instruction

Introduce or review the different triangles by their sides and angles.

    Instruction

If using math notebooks students can cut, fold, and paste the triangles foldable sheet into their notebooks. If they don't have notebooks they can still cut and fold the triangles sheet.

    4. Student Practice (Student-Facing Instructions)

These are step-by-step instructions delivered directly to the students as they work independently or in groups

    Student Instructions

    Instruction

Cut and fold the triangles sheet given by the teacher. Use the painting tape to create different triangles on the floor or table space.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

Using OzoBlockly you will program your Ozobot to navigate around your different triangles. Pay close attention to the angles you use when programming to match the type of triangle on the floor or table.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Instruction

You can adapt and change your triangles to get the right angles and sides that match the descriptions on your worksheet.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)

    Goal

    Lesson Extension (Optional)

Add student instructions for a lesson extension.

    Instruction

Students can move to another group and try and figure out what triangles they created. Students can also create more triangles of their own.

Please upload any student resources, videos, etc. (Max. size: 512 MB videos, 10 MB all other files)
