Meet Ari: The Ozobot Editor (5-12)
Get to know the Ozobot Editor, learn to write pseudocode, and explore programming Ari using block-based coding. Apply your new skills by creating and running your own custom program to make Ari perform a fun sequence!
Floor Plans and Scale
Students will use the Ari Distance application to measure the dimensions of rooms on a floor plan. Then, using a scale factor, students will calculate the real-life sizes of each room.
Solar System Model with Ari
Students will create a miniature model of the solar system with the help of Ari, with distances to scale if the sun were the size of a ping pong ball.
Distance Formula with Ari
Students will utilize Ari to find the x and y coordinates of two small objects and use the distance formula to calculate the distance between them. They will then check their answers using Ari’s distance app and calculate percent error.
2D & 3D Shapes: Area, Perimeter, Surface Area, Volume
Students will use the Ari Distance application to measure the necessary dimensions on paper cut-outs of circles, rectangles, and other shapes. Using the measured values, students will calculate the area and perimeter of each shape.
Halley’s Comet
Learn about the fascinating journey of Halley’s Comet, one of the most iconic comets in our night sky, and explore how its behavior changes throughout its 76-year orbit. Then, program Ari to simulate its dynamic movements as it travels through space.
Kinematics in Two Dimensions
Students will learn the relationship between distance, time, velocity, and acceleration. They will then use Ari to calculate acceleration due to gravity.
Zodiac Constellations
In this lesson, students will step into the role of astronomers, discovering how constellations appear at different times of the year. As Ari simulates Earth’s orbit around the sun, students will identify and sketch the constellations.
Shadow Shifts
Students will use the Ari Distance application to measure the length of shadows created by different angles of light on an object. After measuring, students will compare shadow lengths at different times of the day.
Architecture Mapping
Students use the Ari Distance application to measure the features of four of the seven wonders of the world. The data will be used to calculate the area, perimeter, surface area, and volume of the 2D and 3D representations of architectural feats.
